A move to the Premier League could be one of the last chances for him to get to the World Cup

 Some national teams are impossible to get in. Think Brazil, Argentina, Germany... Some countries produce so much talent, that unless a player is the only solid option at a given position, the competition is ferocious and any drop in form will get you out. Such is the case for Clement Lenglet and France, but things could change in the coming months.

The Barcelona player was a staple of Les Bleus since his debut in 2019, staring in every Euro 2020 qualifiers but one. He shined for his calmness on the ball and his ability to open up play from the back. 

However, his performance for the Catalan club dropped, with complaints of lack of concentration in vital moments, and he was benched for the main event, only playing some minutes as France was eliminated. Since then, he's only played 11 minutes for the French National Team.

However, Lenglet has one card remaining to play in his bid to make it to Qatar. As reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, the Frenchman has everything agreed to become a Tottenham Hotspur player, as he joins on loan for the coming season. According to Romano, there will be no option to buy, and Tottenham will pay a fee as well as a part of Lenglet's wages.

For Clement Lenglet, however, this is the perfect opportunity to show what he can do in one of the most competitive leagues in the world and with a near-guaranteed starting spot in Antonio Conte's team. He's only got three months to catch the eye of Didier Deschamps, but he'll be in a much better position to do so than he was in Barcelona.
