Antonio Conte has shown he is a winner. The Italian has that mentality, the ambition to pursue an objetive beyond any obstacle. It's a matter of mindset; as they say, winning is a habit. Therefore, he's desperate to take Tottenham Hotspur from their current spot as one of Premier League's best sides but far from true contenders to the place were the likes Liverpool and Manchester City are.

To do so, he's going to have to spend a lot of money, but luckily the club seem to share this ambition. So far, Tottenham have closed down five signings for the coming season, with Ivan Perisic, Fraser Forster, Yves Bissouma, Richarlison and Clement Lenglet turning up at White Hart Lane.

They've also made a good job of keeping their biggest stars, with no big names departing the Lilywhites this season, and also selling quite well those who do leave, with Dutch flop Steven Bergwijn costing more than 30 million euros to new club Ajax Amsterdam.

However, a lot more is going to be necesary, and Conte knows it. "For every coach to have players quickly is very important because you can work with them and put them into the idea of (our) football", explained the Italian, before adding "We are always looking to strengthen the squad if there is the opportunity".

With Tottenham having spent more than £100 million in the market so far, this is telling sign that the club are matching Antonio Conte's winning mentality: "It was good to sign five players quickly. Our plan was very clear about the positions in which we needed to improve. We did it. The club worked very well in this window".
