It would be miraculous, the transfer of the year for Uruguayan football, and it is very much possible: Luis Suárez is getting closer to Nacional. El Pistolero has been moved by what happened with the fans on social meadi and although no one dares to confirm it, the transfer is closer than ever to materializing

Luis Suárez could return to his homeland to play for Nacional

After refusing the chance to play for Argentina's River Plate after their elimination from the Copa Libertadores, the striker was waiting for top level offers from Europe, but those never arrived and Nacional is aiming for the stars.

While negotiations are continuing this week, the contract offered by the club would be until the end of the year, with the aim of Suárez playing everything and reaching the 2022 Qatar World Cup in the best shape. Nacional wants Suárez to be able to play until the end of this season, which would be 15 games on the local tournament and the remainder of the Copa Sudamericana (at least 2 games, both in the quarterfinals against the Brazilians from Atlético Goianiense).

Suárez trains alone but now he needs football to gain rhythm and that is why he does not have so much room for maneuver to define his future. El Pistolero assured Nacional that economics on the deal are not an obstacle and that everything depends on his family's decision. In the next few hours, the president of Nacional will travel to Spain to meet Suárez and finish defining the details.

In this context, Nacional fans have invaded social media with the hashtag #SuárezANacional (SuárezToNacional) and posting a photomontage of the scorer wearing the team's jersey. The initiative was so massive that even the club's own official account praised the work of the Nacional fans and also had the support of the first team footballers and other former stars such as Álvaro Recoba.

Suárez's response is expected to come this week. "I continue to write to him every day and he continues to answer me every day, in a very respectful and cordial way, the idea matures but we have to leave him alone with his family, we wait for him," assured José Fuentes, the president of Nacional.

It's worth remembering that Luis Suárez came through much of the Nacional youth ranks, joining the team as a 12 year old in 2000. He would go on to play 34 matches during the 2005-06 season across all competitions for the historic Uruguayan club, scoring 12 goals before departing to The Netherlands for FC Groningen.
