Manchester United's victory in the derby against Liverpool brought some calm to Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag's team managed to emerge victorious from their first great battle since the arrival of the Dutchman on the bench, so they will have a week with a little more air when it comes to working.

But if there is an issue that does not give respite in Manchester, it is Cristiano Ronaldo's situation. The Portuguese star has made it clear that he wants to leave the club as soon as possible and the lack of minutes generates discomfort in the player. Who better to talk about this than Bruno Fernandes, a teammate at United and on the Portugal national team, but also a great friend of Ronaldo's.

After a victory like that, the Red Devils would surely prefer to avoid the Ronaldo issue, but the English press asked questions and their players are obliged to answer. Bruno Fernandes found himself in that position.

"There is a lot of speculation. I may know one thing or another, but I won't be the one who will say it. For now he is a United player, I don't know about his future, if he will leave or if he will not leave", pointed out Fernandes.

Along the same lines, he confirmed he doesn't know what his  teammate and friend assured will do: "For now he is a United player, I don't know about his future, if he will leave or if he will not leave. As he said, he will speak soon and they will have time to hear his words and what he has to say".

To end the uncomfortable questions, Fernandes made it clear that Ronaldo's wish must be respected: " I don't think anyone has shown so far that there was no interest in Cristiano not staying. He can continue at a high level and give us a lot of goals but it's his decision. We have to respect what he wants to do, whatever he wants to do. If he's going to stay, we'll be happy about it, if he's going to leave because he thinks it's best for him, I'll be personally happy for him. The most important thing is that he's okay, at the highest level and make our country proud".

Cristiano Ronaldo's stint at Manchester United seems to be over. The Portuguese star expressed at all times his desire to leave, although coach Erik Ten Hag sought to twist his decision by promising him a big place in his project, something that he has not given him so far, since he sent the Portuguese to the bench in two of the first three meetings of the Red Devils in the beginning of the Premier League.
