"It was IMPOSSIBLE": Bayern director explain why they told NO to Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo is desperate to leave Manchester United. This much we know for sure. But where can he go? Well, that not even the Portuguese star or his agent Jorge Mendes can figure out. The requirements set by Ronaldo of only moving to a Champions League-bound club and his decision not to lower his wages by more than a third (which would still earn him 14 million euros per season) leave a very small list of clubs that could actually sign him

Bayern Munich is one of those clubs, but they (like most others) refused the services of the Portuguese star, and Hasan Salihamidzic, sporting director for the Bavarian giants, explained why they made that decision recently, on a podcast interview for BILD.

"When you now see how our attack is equipped - even without Robert Lewandowski - it's just difficult from a sporting and financial point of view", explained Salihamidzic, who was a mainstay in the media earlier during the market thanks to his war of words with the aforementioned Polish striker.

"We have eight players for four positions upfront. We have established top players who are in the prime of their footballing age", added the sporting director. Indeed, even now after Lewandowski has departed for Barcelona, the Bundesliga defending champions still has a strong offence. This summer, they managed to sign former Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, who will no doubt contribute many goals and assists alongside players like Serge Gnabry, Thomas Muller, and Jamal Musiala.

"We have talent that we want to give playing time too, so we all voted to go through with our plan", pointed out Hasan Salihamidzic, "So (signing Ronaldo) was out of question for us. We are very happy with how we're equipped". Bayern Munich are already leaders of the Bundesliga this season, and boast an impressive 14 goal difference in their favour, after massive results like their 7-0 thrashing of VfL Bochum. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo looks like he's moving nowhere, and is even left out from the Manchester United starting eleven.
