The Blues have a new target in their sights, but it will come at a high cost

Chelsea suffered a shock result last week, losing 3-0 to Leeds United in what was a terrible showing for Thomas Tuchel's men, and one that's sure to send ripples through the club. While the German manager has discarded to option of adding to their midfield with the signing of Frenkie de Jong, it seems like they're open to adding to their front line, and not exactly on the cheap.

According to various UK media, the Blues are looking to add to their frontline with the signing of Everton star Anthony Gordon. The 21-year-old forward is reported to have been one of Chelsea's big targets all summer long, and now the Stamford Bridge side is ready to go all in for him.

As reported, the Blues would be willing to pay an astonishing £50 million plus another 10 million in addons, making Gordon the third most expensive Englishman of all time, just behind the deals for Jack Grealish (£100m to Manchester City), Harry Maguire (£78m to Manchester United) and Jadon Sancho (£72.9m to Manchester United).

Still, rumours say the Toffees are reluctant. Despite setting their price tag at over £50 million, they still consider him a key piece of their team and would struggle to find a replacement this late into the window. Gordon burst into the Everton first team last season, mananging 40 appearances, with four goals and three assists as a wide forward playing on either flank. He's known for his skill on the ball, deadly crossing and lethal long shooting.

Chelsea have long been linked with a move for Barcelona's Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, with terms supposedly agreed between themselves and the player, so now it remains to be seen whether Anthony Gordon is seen as an alternative to the Gabon international or a future partner in Chelsea blue.
