FC Barcelona are in pickle. Less than a week away from their LaLiga debut against Rayo Vallecano, they're struggling to have the institution run by Javier Tebas allow them to register the players they've signed over the summer. The 21 year old right-back has been a priority for Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag this summer and now Barcelona are willing to let him go. The Dutch manager gave the American international his professional debut when he broke through at Ajax before signing a 21 million euros deal to join Barça in 2020.

However, having missed on Cesar Azpilicueta, the captain of Chelsea, who passed on the opportunity to join the Catalan club, Barcelona is still lacking in the right-back position and according to Spanish newspaper Sport they may prioritise strengthening that position over the left. This could open the door for a move on Dest, who the Dutch coach admires after their time at Ajax.

With just Aaron Wan Bissaka and Diogo Dalot as his options for the spot, it's clear that Ten Hag would see Dest as an upgrade over his current options. However, only three new players joined the Old Trafford team during the summer transfer window (Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, and Tyrell Malacia), which ended up proving a highly disappointing window for the United manager, so don't hold your breath.
