For many, Franck Ribery marked an era. The French winger made a memorable duo with Arjen Robben at Bayern Munich, where they won absolutely everything. After arriving at the Salernitana in 2021, the attacker's performance, with 3 assists in 23 games, was key to keep the souther Italy side in Serie A. However, in the current season, Ribery's body has said enough. After suffering severe pain in the knee, the Olympique Marseille player underwent studies in Munich and they made it clear that not even surgery would be enough to keep him with sufficient level.

Ribery and Salernitana must reach an agreement to end his contract, which runs until 2023 and sees the Frenchman earn 1,5 million euros per season. After that, he's expected to join as an assistant with Davide Nicola's coaching staff.

Ribéry leaves football after a career of more than 20 years that took him through France (Boulogne, Alès, Brest, Metz and Olympique Marseille), Turkey (Galatasaray), Germany (Bayern) and Italy (Fiorentina and Salernitana). In addition, he played 81 games for the France National Team, in which he scored 16 goals.

The best of Franck Ribery was seen at Bayern Munich where he won nine Bundesligas, six German Cups, one League Cup, four German Super Cups, one Champions League, one European Super Cup and one Club World Cup. In addition, he was the Bronze Ball in 2013.
