When Real Madrid signed himit was a bombshell in his home country, because the expectations were very high due to his quality and because now he was in one of the most important clubs in Europe. However, things never went as expected for Takefusa Kubo.
Takefusa Kubo could never impress Real Madrid
The 21-year-old midfielder, born in Japan and who was constantly compared to Leo Messi, will be leaving Real Madrid without playing an official appearance with Los Blancos.
Kubo had started the current preseason with the first team but after several practice sessions, Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti confirmed that he will not take the Japanese forward into account and in this context Real Sociedad will pay 6 million euros for 50% of his transfer .
Since joining Real Madrid in 2019, Kubo was first loaned to Mallorca, then to Villarreal, where he played 19 games. After returning in 2021, he was loaned out again but to Getafe, where he only made 18 appearances. He later returned to Mallorca and now he move permanently go to Real Sociedad.
Japanese media also assure that it was the footballer himself who asked not to go to the United States tour that Real Madrid will take part in. The Japanese wanted to stay behind, as his intention was to join his new club as soon as possible and put himself under the orders of Real Sociedad head coach Imanol Alguacil.
Takefusa Kubo only ever played friendlies for Real Madrid
Selling only 50 percent, Real Madrid would have the possibility of bringing him back or receiving half of the income from a possible future transfer. However, for now the chances of Takefusa Kubo returning to the Merengue club are very low. "I can't talk about the transfers, but I'm already saying that we're done. We're not going to sign anyone. We're fine like this" said Ancelotti after being asked about the departures of Luka Jovic and Takefusa Kubo.
