Don't you hate when you do your homework and work hard only for someone else to take the credit? Well, that could be the case for Arsenal in the Lisandro Martinez transfer saga, as he seems closer and closer to Manchester United.
The Gunners initially made a bid reported to be around £40 million, but Ajax was reticent to sell. However, it was only for Manchester United to swoop over and make a £50 million offer that seems to have "unlocked" the negotiations with the Amsterdam club.
Now, as reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United representatives are in the Dutch city to negotiate the details of the transfer. Ajax had reportedly rejected a similar bid last week, but now look open to sell.
According to Romano, the Red Devils have already reached personal terms with the player, meaning all that's separating the Argentine from a reunion with Erik ten Hag is a compromise between the two clubs.
Lisandro Martinez, who can play both as a centreback as well as on the left back and as a holding midfielder, played 36 matches last season for Ajax, and was a key part of the Dutch team's defence of their league title.
