The Erik ten Hag era at Manchester United hasn't turned out to be such a big success as initially anticipated. Despite the high hopes at the start of it all, and some very good performances on the pitch, there has been drama surrounding the team all transfer window long. As such, Red Devils legend Gary Neville took to social media to express his irritation as a fan.

The main narrative for Manchester United fan this summer has been the club's attempts to pry Frenkie de Jong away from Barcelona. Despite the economic might of any big Premier League club and the lure of playing once again under Erik ten Hag, the midfielder remains uninterested in the move, and his hesitation is starting to wear patience thin on the Red Devils' side.

As a former player and fan of the Old Trafford club, Neville forgot his role as a media specialist and took to twitter to ironize on the lack of news on the matter. "Have we signed De Jong yet?", joked the former United captain.

Thing is, despite rumours pointing out that the Red Devils would be interested in covering the 17 million euros wage debt Barcelona owes De Jong, the situation remains at a standstill. Xavi chose the Dutchman to join the team on its preseason tour of the United States, and the former Ajax prospect started in the Blaugrana's victory over the New York Red Bulls.

"I don't know if [Frenkie de Jong] going to stay here. There's still time and a lot of things can still happen", explained the Barcelona coach after the match."At the moment, he's part of the team, like everyone else. The fact that he played as a central defender in the other games was not a sign that he was leaving. I don't need to send signals on the pitch. I can speak directly with my footballers".
