It's finally official: Manchester City announces the signing of the season
Erling Haaland will play in the Premier League the coming season. The Norwegian leaves Borussia Dortmund after two years and will fulfil a childhood dream, playing for the side his dad featured for.
Manchester City confirmed it through a statement on its official website and social media. "Manchester City can confirm that we have reached an agreement in principle with Borussia Dortmund for the transfer of striker Erling Haaland to the Club on 1st July 2022. The transfer remains subject to the Club finalising terms with the player".
The Premier League club
will activate the 60 million euros release clause on Haaland's contract with Borussia Dortmund, and the final figure can reach as much as 100 million euros with all bonuses and comissions. Haaland's wages will be on the same level as Kevin De Bruyne's at around £375,000, making him one of the best paid players in the club. The Norwegian has already completed the medical examinations carried out in the city of Manchester.
Haaland, who scored 85 goals in 88 appearances for Borussia Dortmund, will now join the team his father played for between 2000 and 2003, after rejecting the interests of clubs like of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
