While the huge success Barcelona had in reinforcing their squad despite the economic limitations that burden the club was the big news all summer long, they're now starting to do a great job in moving away the pieces they don't want anymore. Phillippe Coutinho, Francisco Trincao, Dani Alves and Clement Lenglet have all moved away from the Camp Nou; now, you can add one more name to the list: Oscar Mingueza.

The La Masía graduate has been in the chopping block for a long while now, never quite performing to the level that's required of an elite centreback. Despite some shows of great skill and the versatility to play multiple positions, it was clear that as soon as there was a taker, the move will be done.

One of the five players that Xavi Hernández decided not to take to the US tour, Mingueza knew that his future did not lie at Camp Nou, therefore he started looking for an exit. He had several offers and had the freedom to chose where to continue his career.  Now, it is official. Mingueza will leave Barça to join the ranks of Celta de Vigo.

The deal will be done free, despite Mingueza still having time on his Barcelona contract. Instead, the Catalan giants will take a 50% of any resell value that the player earns Celta de Vigo in the future, while also holding a buy-back option should they want him back. Mingueza will sign a four year contract until 2026.

Part of La Masia's class of 2020, Óscar Mingueza had his professional debut with the team that year, in a Champions League duel against Dynamo Moscow. He would go on to make 66 appearances with the Blaugrana squad, scoring two goals and providing five assists.
