Bayern Munich insisted they wanted him to stay. Hasan Salihamidzic was very clear about the situation: "We really want to keep him. Rumours had emerged that, with just one year on his contract, the 27 year old German was looking to move, in search of a bigger role and a bigger pay that he was getting at Bayern. Many top clubs, incluiding Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Real Madrid all were rumoured to be after him, but it will all be for nothing.

News emerged now that Gnabry will be renewing his contract with the Bavarian giants. The German forward will sign a four year deal, taking his stay with the Bundesliga defending champions until 2026. There are as of now no solid figures on wages, although it was reported that Bayern's last offer was doubling the 7.8 million euros he earns currently.

Where did this sudden change of mind come from in a player that looked set on a move? Look no further than his latest new teammate, Sadio Mané. Reports have the Senegalese forward as one of the main influences for Gnabry deciding to stay at Bayern, with Sky Sports Deutschland's Florian Plettenberg claiming the former Liverpool man had a big impact and convinced Gnabry to extend his contract.
