MILLIONARE CLAUSE: Real Madrid chasing Rafael Leao despite exorbitant fee
The transfer targets for post-Mbappé Real Madrid keep popping up, and the latest would be the Portuguese forward, although Milan would require an absolute fortune to part with their player
Real Madrid continues to recover from the rejection of Kylian Mbappé. With rumours of their interest in Monaco's Aurélien Tchouameni flying high, it looks now like another of the Merengues targets have appeared.
According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Real Madrid will be going after one of the recently crowned Champions of Italy, Portuguese forward Rafael Leao.
The Spanish giants would be open to paying a fee of 120 million euros por the player, but apparently that wouldn't be enough. Leao has a release clause of 150 million in his contract, and appartently Milan are unwilling to negotiate for anything below that.
The Italian club sees Leao as one of the key pieces in their squad, and would not be willing to part ways with him easily, even if that means rejecting what would be one of the ten most expensive transfer fees in history.
Leao, 22 years old, arrived at Milan from French club Lille in 2019 for 29,5 million euros, and has scored 14 goals and given 12 assists in 42 games for the Italian giants.
