Christophe Galtier won't allow his Paris Saint Germain players to take the foot off the gas. The Paris outfit had a strong start to the season with their new head coach:  Leaders in Ligue 1 with seven victories and a draw, they also had a successful opening round in the Champions League with two victories against Juventus and Maccabi Haifa.

A lot of this has to go down to the mentality that Galtier has been able to quickly instill in his players. With how dominant the Paris side are in the French league, it can be easy to get complacent and they certainly had under previous coaches. That's something that the French coach is mindful of, and he wants to avoid it

"I focus a lot on our relationships and our connections with each other given that our play is possession-based, as well as on how we need to attack and what we need to have right now, which is more of a killer instinct", he recently pointed out in a interview with PSG TV.

According to Galtier, the focus of his work is always around getting PSG to be the best they can be, even if they don't need to be to beat their Ligue 1 opposition: "We're always looking to create situations in training, to find a way through our opponents, to make our strong points even stronger, to focus on our relationships with each other, our technical relationships and connections, and also to put certain things right".

Blessed with one of the most talented squads in the world, many often wonder if it's not a case of getting out of the way of the players for PSG coaches, but Galtier sees it in a different light: "You can always improve a player, especially mentally. Technically speaking, my players are at an extraordinary level, but I need to improve them mentally, in terms of what their job requires of them and what we need to put into preparing for sessions and matches, as well as in terms of concentration and determination".

"It's not about improving them tactically but rather emphasising what we want to see from the team and emphasising the positioning that the players should have, which then becomes movement. Obviously, it's a lot of work", added Christophe Galtier, under whom PSG are going through a new spring.
