INCREDIBLE: Guardiola PRAISED him and now he's off to TURKEY

The legendary Spanish manager praised his game, but now he'll be leaving the Premier League for a move to Istambul

It was one of the most incredible scenes of that season. Manchester City beat Southampton 2-1 with a last minute goal by Raheem Sterling and Pep Guardiola ran into the pitch to hug and talk to one of the players on the pitch... except it wasn't one of his own, but rather the Saints' 23 year old winger Nathan Redmond.

The incident confused everyone who saw it, but Redmond later explained what happened. "He told me how he wanted us to attack more during the game, like last year", the player said, who also defended Guardiola's attitude. "He spoke to me in a passionate, intense and aggressive way, but he also praised me and was positive with me", added the Englisman, "When one of the best coaches in the world gives you advice, you must listen".

However, it seems Redmond should have listened to Guardiola more, because his career has since failed to take off, and now he's heading to a less than flattering destination. The winger is thought to have bid farewell to his teammates earlier this week as he is set to depart for Istanbul to join Besiktas.

The former Birmingham City and Norwich winger will sign a one year deal with the Turkish giants, after rejecting offers from Fenerbahce and Galatasaray. While the St. Mary's side is expected to receive a fee, no figures have yet come up. However, it is understood that the Saints did not put any obstacles for the transfer, as sign of respect to the player's service to the club.

Nathan Redmond joined Southampton in 2016 and has since played 232 times for the Saints, scoring 30 goals and giving 27 assists across all competitions.
