Mbappe set the world alight, but he also drew criticism from one of his biggest supporters

"There is only one rule: if the coach asks you to do something, you do it for the good of the team", those were Thierry Henry's words, and it's clear to see whom he's speaking about: Kylian Mbappe. The Paris Saint Germain striker set the world alight when rumours that he's looking to leave the French club as soon as possible came up, but to Henry it all sounds like nonsense.

Mbappe's alledged outburst and desire to leave the team in January did not sit well with the former Barcelona and Arsenal star. Thierry Henry shifted his customary kindness towards Mbappé for a more critical voice.

"Nobody likes being exposed to what they're not good at. He doesn't like it, that's all. But there is something bigger than all the rest: the club", explained Henry, who also struggled with being played out of position during his days at Juventus, before joining Arsenal in 1999.

According to the 1998 World Cup-winner, PSG made a mistake making so many promises to Mbappe in order to keep him: "Did they make him feel that the club was the most important thing? Where did they make him feel more important than the club?". At the centre of the clash between Mbappe and PSG is the issue  of head coach Christophe Galtier playing in a different position than the one he and the club agreed upon. Mbappé demanded that the team sign a centre forward and let Neymar go, but he is currently playing as a nine. Now, many say that the forward's relationship with club advisor Luis Campos has crossed the point of no return.

With Henry and Mbappe being both pacey and skilled French strikers and AS Monaco academy graduates, they've been often compared, and the former Arsenal star has always watched out for the PSG man, but not this time

However, Henry is making no excuses for Kylian Mbappe: "I didn't like playing on the side at Barcelona. I hated it. But I had to do it for the team. I haven't heard anyone say: 'Oh, what a nice gesture', to play on the left for others who had fewer internationals and goals than me. In the end, there's only one rule: If the coach asks you to do something, you do it for the good of the team. And the team wins! If the team lost, I would have understood the debate".
