The CURIOUS change that Erik ten Hag made to Old Trafford

The Dutch manager decided that something needed adjustment on Manchester United's historic ground

Whenever a new boss arrives at a club, they always want to make it feel like it's their club now, not someone else's. This is often seen through changes to the playing squad, with new signings coming in and the old guard going out; however, sometimes stranger decisions are taken, and such seems to be case with Erik ten Hag and his latest decision at Manchester United.

Far from keeping happy with Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez joining his squad, Erik ten Hag has requested to make changes to Old Trafford. The positions of the two dugouts have been switched, as a recent club statement confirmed. "Erik [ten Hag] approved the move after visiting Old Trafford for the first time in May and noting how the old away dugout was closer to the tunnel, and to the half of the pitch where substitutes warm up", claims the statement.

As a result, the home team bench will be closer to the tunnel entrance and the Stretford End, on the west side of the stadium, while the away team will be nearer to the away crowd on the opposite end of the Red Devils' ground.

This will of course bring each team closer to their supporters on match day, but the Dutch manager may come to regret this decision if things don't go well during the season, as he'll also be closer to any "harsh criticisms" that he or his team may face.

Whatever the result of this decision ends up being, Erik ten Hag will have a first taste of this change rather soon, as the Red Devils  will host Rayo Vallecano this weekend in their final preseason game before taking on Brighton & Hove Albion in their opening Premier League game of the year, on Sunday, August 8.
