The Italian manager told club president Daniel Levy that he feels the Spurs are just a few good signings away from contending for their first English league title since 1967, and the club is working towards getting there. Tottenham added Croatian forward Ivan Perisic and Ivory Coast international Yves Bissouma, but they could end up missing out on Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez.

In interview with Italian radio network Rai, Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta said he considers Martinez a fundamental player, with their goal being joining him again with Romelu Lukaku and reclaim the Serie A title.

"We have our target: make a capital gain from transfers and reduce the wage bill. It's in our interest to keep a strong team because this is the history of this club. We believe Lautaro is fundamental to pursuing these objectives", Marotta said.
