It seems like forever ago now, but there was actually a time where Kylian Mbappe's continuity at Paris Saint Germain was, at best, highly contested. Particularly after the Parisian outfit's elimination at the hands of Real Madrid in the Champions League, many thought the French star must've had enough with PSG and was ready to move to a more "established" club in Real Madrid. However, the French side was able to convince Mbappé to stay, and now the figures of the astronomical contract put in front of him are coming out.

Mbappé conceded an interview to US newspaper The NY Times where he discussed several aspects of his career, and it was there that the American news outlet disclosed some of the figures paid to the Frenchman by his club to keep him as the main face of the project.

There was such attention on the matter that even French president Emmanuel Macron called Mbappé to offer him his take on the move. "I never imagined that I was going to talk to the president about my future, about the future of my career, so it's crazy, really crazy," explained Mbappé to the American newspaper. "He said to me, 'I want you to stay. I don't want you to go now. You are very important to the country'. You have time to go, you can stay a little bit longer"."Of course," added the striker, "when the president tells you that, that counts".

The fact that Mbappé's new contract was set to be the highest ever in the history of football was a known fact, but know the numbers are a bit more clear. The Frenchman is reported to be making more than 250 million euros for the three-year deal that he signed with PSG, with a signing bonus of 125 million to be paid across the duration of the contract.

However, Mbappé insisted to the NY Times that money had nothing to do with his decision to re-sign with the Parisian outfit: "Wherever I go they will give me money", he insisted, while still leaving the door open to a potential Real Madrid move: "You never know what is going to happen".
