TOO LATE? Juve is keen on him, but his club may not want him gone now

One of Juve's target may have shown he's at the right place, despite the Bianconeri's continued interest

If someone has taken advantage of the Erik ten Hag era at Manchester United, it has been Anthony Martial. The Frenchman was one of the main names marked to leave Manchester United after his dismal last couple of seasons, both with the Red Devils and Sevilla during a loan spell.

However, the 26-year-old striker has succeeded thus far under new manager the Dutch manager, scoring three goals in four friendly matches and is looking to become his best self once again. Despite that, Martial is still drawing interest from abroad and the main team reported to be chasing his signature is none other than Juventus.

The Bianconeri's main target is Alvaro Morata, who has spent the last two years on loan in Turin. Juve boss Massimiliano Allegri is eager to bring him back on a permanent basis; however, Juventus declined to exercise their 35 million euro option to acquire him from Atletico Madrid in June, and instead intend to bargain for a lower price

The Italian side are looking at potential options should they fail to acquire him, and Martial is the leading alternative, according to UK sports news channel Sky Sports, with Chelsea's Timo Werner third in line.

Earlier in the transfer window, it was reported that the Red Devils would have been willing to rip up Martial's contract in order to remove him from their payroll, but they're now keen to hang onto the Frenchman. The reason is simple: Martial would be the only true striker in Manchester United's squad should Cristiano Ronaldo get his wish to leave the club.

With Anthony Martial's improving performances, however, it may be an uphill battle for Juventus. "I'm sure he can come back even better", explained Erik ten Hag during their preseason tour. "I think when he has the right focus and the right motivation and he works hard he will have production because he is a good player. I say when he has the right focus and every day delivers much then he will have production and it's up to him".
