It's an absolute bombshell. The fact that competing clubs can at times interfere with each other's negotiations is a known fact, but what Barcelona have done is a total escalation of the aggresion, and something that Chelsea will not forgive easily.

The Blaugranas and the Blues are currently competing for the signing of Sevilla's central defender Jules Koundé. So far, Chelsea looked to be running ahead in the competition, having the financial muscle to tempt the 23 year old Frenchman at any cost. However, it was a known fact that, all things being equal, the Sevilla man favoured a move to Barcelona.

The club presided by Joan Laporta, however, does not have the might of old and is constantly struggling to put together competitive offers for their targets. It looked as if it was a lost cause for Koundé, who was set to skip the Sevilla pre season tour and travel to London to seal his move to Chelsea... but Barcelona have just sabotaged the move. According to Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, the Catalan club has just conviced Koundé to board the plane and fly to Portugal, were Sevilla is set to face Sporting in a friendly.

This throws a massive spanner in the works for Chelsea, who wanted instead to have Koundé complete his medical examinations to sign the deal with them. Instead, what they get is a huge message by the Frenchman, who is telling them clearly that they are the second-best option for him, and that he will only move to England if and just if Barcelona cannot afford him.

It remains unclear, however, how this will affect other businesses for Barcelona, in concrete the moves for César Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso, who they wanted to sign from Chelsea. This move is undoubtedly going to sour any good faith between the two clubs, and make negotiations much harder.
