Cristiano Ronaldo is probably realizing by now his wish of leaving Manchester United is not going to happen. The Portuguese star missed the Red Devils' pre-season tour on "family issues" and is yet to train under Erik ten Hag, as his bid to leave the Old Trafford club to join a team competing in the Champions League intensified. Problem is... there are no takers. Now that ambition has gotten another nail in the coffin, from one of the last clubs he was looking to join.

But that door has been shut firmly.

"I don't know who invented this story about Cristiano Ronaldo to Atletico Madrid. It's definitely not true", those were the words of Enrique Cerezo, the president of the Colchoneros, putting an end to speculation that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner could join them.

In an interview with Spanish radio show El Partidazo de COPE, Cerezo shut down rumours that Cristiano Ronaldo could work with Diego Simeone and the rest of his squad to finally win the UEFA Champions League. "It's practically impossible for him to come to Atletico de Madrid. To easy questions simple answers. You can  consider it answered".
