Won't miss him: Harsh SILENCE from Chelsea squad after Tuchel dismissal
The Blues manager is out of the job, but his players aren't very fussed about it
Thomas Tuchel has been fired from Chelsea after almost two years on the job. The German manager's team had been accumulating bad results, and that gave new owner Todd Boehly the perfect excuse to sack Tuchel, with whom he reportedly clashed over the signing of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo. However, for someone who's been on the job for a while and with whom the players have had such iconic triumphs as their Champions League victory in 2021, things have been quiet at Stamford Bridge.
Following Tuesday's humiliating 1-0 loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the West Londoners' Champions League debut, Tuchel was fired. This added to Chelsea's terrible Premier League start, which has seen them drop two of their first six games.
Yet, few of his former players however took time to bid farewell to the German after his dismissal was announced. In fact, it was none of the 2021 Champions League winners that was first to thank Tuchel, but actually record signing Wesley Fofana, who barely had over a week of work under the German.
Later on, Reece James and Ben Chilwell added to the messages, with the former Leicester man commenting "Thank you for the amazing memories coach!". This silence does nothing but support reports by UK newspaper The Telegraph, who claimed it was not just new club owner Todd Boehly who had lost faith in Tuchel's abilities, but also his squad.
After joining on January 2021, Thomas Tuchel was sacked just 1 game short of his 100th game as Chelsea boss, and won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Supercup and the FIFA Club World Cup with the Blues.
