The move is finally done! Jules Koundé is a Barcelona player

It was a long drawn negotiation that took the 23 year old Frenchman to the Catalan giants, as Koundé looked set for Chelsea at a number of times. However, the players patience and the club's negotiating skills finally paid off, as both get what they wanted: Koundé moves to the club he favoured all window long, and Barça get their primary target for the centreback position.

In the end, the move will go through for a total package of 60 million euros, split in an initial fee of 50 million and the next 10 done in addons. According to Spanish newspaper Marca, it's most likey that Barcelona end up paying around 5 million of those addons, as the conditions are suggested to be easy to fulfill.

As per Koundé, he's reported to be signing a five year deal that would take his Barcelona at least until 2027, while signing for 7 million euros per season, falling well within the new wage structure put in place by the Blaugrana club. Having always favoured a move to Barcelona, Koundé was only ever close to sign with Chelsea when it looked as if the Catalan club wasn't going to be able to come to terms with Sevilla. He has been in constant comunication with Xavi and understands where the coach wants him.

"I'm really proud, grateful. I can't wait to join the team and start this Barcelona story", expressed Koundé, as he was introduced to the Barça fans. "I say thanks to Sevilla, but of course Barça is a top step in my career - so here I wanna win all competitions".

As per the doubts with the possibility of failing to meet the economic conditions to register Jules Koundé, it does not all fall on the shoulders of Frenkie de Jong as previously expected. According to Spanish newspaper AS, Barcelona president Joan Laporta has negotiated a deal to make effective the sale of 49% of the club's merchandising revenue, which is handled under the brand Barça Licensing & Merchandising, better known as BLM.
