The new Arsenal signing could be the solution of Arteta`s problems

The Portuguese midfielder Fabio Vieira arrived at the Emirates Stadium for a 34M Pounds fee from Porto, as Mikel Arteta completed his third signing of the 2022 summer transfer window, after the arrivals of former Sao Paulo youngster Marquinhos and goalkeeper Matt Turner.

The 22-year-old, who never disputed an international match with the Portugal national team, can play as an offensive or left midfielder. Being naturally left-footed allows him to help the left-back on defense and be a playmaker, something that the Gunners need in urgency on that side of the pitch as the first option Martinelli is more of a dribbling player.

His signing also means getting a player that can score. Fabio got six goals in 15 starts last Portuguese league season. But the most impressive side is his passing, with a great ability to see and make deep passes, Vieira assisted teammates 14 times, getting more than half an assist per match in his 27 games played.

This is something Arsenal will be thankful for, since the Portuguese made twice as many goal passes as Gunner's top assists Buyako Saka and Alexandre Laccazette, who both made seven last season.

Having someone with that many participations in scoring actions last year would have made Arsenal a Champions League team at the 22/23 season, as they missed the fourth place being just 2 points behind Spurs, something they will try to achieve this year.

Returning to the question if Fabio Vieira is the right man for Arsenal, viewing those numbers gave us the easy answer: Yes. We don`t know if the youngster will perform the same way as he did in Oporto, but supposing he gets that high level that made Arteta put his eyes on him, the midfielder will make a huge impact on the team, supporting Martin Odegard on the game creation, assisting Edward Nketiah, and helping Tierney or Nuno Mendes defend on the left side.
