Arsenal needs a PROBLEM SOLVER and they're chasing Guardiola's man

The Gunners need to plug two positions, so they're signing a player that can cover both

Managers often buy players they know from former clubs, so it's not rare that while Arsenal is Mikel Arteta's first job as head coach, he's reaching out to Manchester City players he knows from his days a Pep Guardiola's assistant. First he solved his striker crisis with Gabriel Jesus, and now he's looking at another Citizen: Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Ukranian has been an important rotation piece for Guardiola, thanks to his varied skillset, adaptability, and ability to play multiple positions. Able to function as a left back, a holding midfielder or even further up the centre of the pitch, Zinchenko is a problem solver for any manager, and Arteta has several problems.

Nuno Tavares disappointing season leaves Kieran Tierney with no clear option behind him, a huge risk for a player so injury prone, while Arsenal's midfield has been a bit on the thin side with options for a long time. Zinchenko would slot in on both those spots perfectly, and would be a player the Spanish coach knows and can rely on.

It's therefore no surprise that Arsenal are reportedly working on a deal for the former Shakhtar youth prospect, according to The Athletic's David Ornstein. While there are no figures still to be disclosed, reports say Manchester City's valuation of the player is being met, pointing towards a quick negotiation, provided Zinchenko is intersted in the move.

Oleksandr Zinchenko came through the Shakhtar Donetsk in Ukraine before moving to FK Ufa in the Russian league. Manchester City signed him from there in 2016 as a 20 year old, and he would go on to make 127 appearances for the Sky Blues, scoring 2 goals and proving 12 assists.
