"Antony isn't WORTH IT": He DESTROYED the Brazilian after £85M move

Manchester United pulled one of the deals of the summer as they made the signing of Antony from Ajax for £85 million, after the Amsterdam side rejected their two previous offers I'm not asking Ajax to release me, I'm asking Ajax to sell me with the highest bid ever for Eredivisie player. I've been insisting on this theme since February so that the club could rebuild the team with peace of mind", had told the Brazilian to the press.

However, not everyone thinks its a great deal for the Red Devils. Marco Van Basten is on the record as he thinks it's a bad deal for the Old Trafford side. According to the legendary Dutch footballer, Antony is not worth the money United paid for him. What's more, he affirms that he has many flaws and that he still has a long way to go to achieve anything in football.

"Is Antony worth 100 million euros? No, not even close. Antony hasn't shown too much yet", sentenced Van Basten for Dutch media outlet Ziggo Sport. Despite the 12 goals and 10 assists the Brazilian got for Ajax during last season, the former AC Milan striker is far from convinced.

"Of course, he has played some good games. But his efficiency has not been high in the last two years. Ajax have a great academy, our youth education is very great. And then you go to buy a youth player for a mega amount Something is wrong then", furthered his criticism Van Basten

When it comes to the Brazilian, the former Dutch international thinks he's too wasteful with the ball, despite thriving for a side famous for their possession game like Ajax: "Too many times he loses the ball or he has things that go wrong. A winger can lose the ball, but there is a limit. If you want to dribble every time you have the ball and it goes wrong 7 times out of 10... You have to pay attention to how often he loses the ball".

It will remain to be seen whether Erik ten Hag, who was insistent on the signing of Antony, shares this views on the Brazilian and what role he will take in his new project at Manchester United.
