The Serie A has taken a step back from other top European leagues like the Premier League or LaLiga when it comes to securing the best talent available. In recent years, the economic and competitive level in Italy has meant that at times the top prospects in the world have favoured a move to smaller sides in England, Germany or Spain over the likes of AC Milan, Juventus or Inter.

However, this time Milan have pulled the coup, as it has been reported that their deal for Belgian young star Charles de Ketelaere is now set be announced very soon. The Belgian had interest from Premier League sides like Leeds United, but his priority was always to sign with the Rossoneri

A few weeks back, Milan legend turned club director Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara travelled to Belgium to meet with representatives of Club Brugge.  "We are always confident, it was a good meeting for the Charles de Ketelaere deal", commented Maldini uppon landing, before also bringing measure of cautioness: "We will see what happens - we are on it".

Now, those good omens seem to have come true, as De Ketelaere is reported to be on the verge of signing a contract of 2 million euros per year plus addons, on a five-year deal that would link him with the Rossoneri until 2027. As per the transfer, most sources are reporting a 32 million euros fee, which also includes some addons, and could have a percentage for a future sell as well.

During the match for the Belgian Super Cup, which Brugge won beating GentCharles de Ketelaere received a standing ovation when he came out of the bench to warm up in the 60th minute, in what many took as a farewell to the young star from the fans, so the Belgian can only hope he gets as warm a welcome in his future club.
